Indianapolis 500 Festival

This is a huge event that takes place every year in Indiana. Last year, about 500,000 visitors participated in this festival that takes place throughout the month of May. There are athletes who were running the Mini-Marathon, fourth-grade students that were participating in the Education Program, and more. Families come to the festival with their children. The spectators get to see one of the nation’s greatest parades.

OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon

Place: Indianapolis, Indiana

This event is more than 37 years old. It is the largest half-marathon in America. Every year it draws nearly 40,000 participants. The event attracts international Olympian marathon runners. The course winds through downtown, and there is a full loop around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Zoopolis 500

Date: late May 2017
Place: Indianapolis Zoo – Indianapolis, Indiana

It is an annual tortoise race. It takes place a week before the Indianapolis 500. It is one of the oldest and most popular events in Indianapolis. In this race, tortoises move as fast as possible to reach the finishing line that is edged with tempting fruit platters.

Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival

Place: Jackson, Indiana

It is the oldest bluegrass festival in the world that has been running for more than 45 years now. It showcases the best of bluegrass music. There are more than 50 bands who perform over eight days in this festival. There are music, instrument workshops, Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Country Star Museum, band showcases, and more.

Three Rivers Festival

Date: July 7-15, 2017
Place: Fort Wayne, Indiana

It is an annual 9-day event that includes children’s activities, art fair, national acts, senior’s events, marketplace, parade, etc. It is a total family entertainment. It draws more than 4,00,000 crowds every year. It’s an event that is more than 40 years old.
